Most California-grown dates are harvested in September through December. Sam Cobb harvests his fresh dates in December and even into February. Sam Cobb grows seven different varieties of fresh dates on his home ranch in Desert Hot Springs and in Blythe. He and his wife, Maxine, planted their date palms in 2003, now farming 60 acres of dates. Farmer Sam Cobb is proud to be the only black date farmer in the US, and is extra proud to be growing some really good dates!
Medjool - big, wet-pack, gooey, queen of dates!!
Black Gold - Sam Cobb's own variety he's been cultivating for over 20 years. Notes of caramel, chocolate, and dark cherry!
