Organic Mixed Variety Dragon Fruit

Dragon fruit, or Pitaya, is a fruit that grows on climbing cacti with native origins of Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and El Salvador. It's texture is similar to a kiwi and pear, and it's flavor is mild and refreshing--like watermelon! It's flesh is dotted with little crunchy seeds that are edible, like kiwi seeds. Magenta-flesh varieties are slightly sweet with more berry notes. 

Ken at Fortule Farms is growing a number of interesting dragon fruit varietals! Your box may include: magenta flesh, white flesh, yellow skin with white flesh, green skin with magenta flesh, etc.

Dragon fruit flower pollination is really unique. The flowers only open for one night, usually 10-15 hours so the opportunity for flowers to be pollinated and turn into fruit is a short window!
