This is our second season with the honor of bringing in Masumoto’s Baby Crawford peaches. Once fallen out of favor, these yellow peaches were reintroduced in the 1980s by Andy Mariani of Andy’s Orchard. Now, our friends at Masumoto are learning how to care for this special variety in their own orchard. So delicate that even a light touch can leave a bruise on their golden skin, Baby Crawfords more than make up for it in flavor—think sweet dried apricot, with tropical mango notes that emerge when chilled. Store on the counter. Grown organically by Masumoto Family Farm in Del Rey.
This might be the only time Carine and Robert have a big enough succession of San Juan Ananas melons to include them in every box. And thanks to our wonderfully amazing (and hardworking!) melon farmer, they’re even sized for the baby box! This pale-fleshed melon is sweet and aromatic, with notes of pear and banana. Store in the fridge and enjoy it chilled (pls). Grown organically by Sun Tracker Farm in Guinda.
Front Porch Farm grows the best Triple Crown blackberries! Somehow, they manage to produce the sweetest berries, harvested at peak plumpness and ripeness. We marvel at each juicy morsel—it feels like nothing short of a miracle. Their berries are poppin’ off right now. Store in the fridge. Grown organically by Front Porch Farm in Sebastopol.
Snowchaser blueberries are typically an early spring variety, but our friends at Coastal Moon let them hang on the bushes for months longer this season—saving one final harvest just for us. These are so deeply flavorful, ending the local blueberry season on a high note. Store in the fridge. Grown organically by Coastal Moon Farm in Watsonville.
Cathy and Michael harvest their Emerald Drop pluots perfectly at their peak. I love the golden hues that sometimes show up on the skin! These honey-sweet pluots can be eaten firm or let to soften slightly. Store on the counter. Grown organically by Spreadwing Farm in Rumsey.
These sweet little Candy Dream grapes really do taste like candy—tropical candy. They're intensely flavorful, with notes of caramelized pineapple and mango all wrapped into one. It’s peak grape season at Murray Family Farms! Store in the fridge. Grown organically by Murray Family Farms in Bakersfield.
Cloverleaf’s small but mighty crop of Spice Zee nectaplums is something we look forward to all year. This nectarine-peach-plum hybrid—the first of its kind—is one of our favorites. With sweet, spicy notes and strong nectarine and plum character, its white flesh makes for a uniquely delicious bite. Store on the counter. Grown organically by Cloverleaf Farm in Winters.
